BIOGRAPHY He graduated brilliantly at the Conservatorio 'N. Paganini' in Genoa in Pianoforte, in the Advanced Course in Harpsichord and in the 2nd Level Academic Biennium with a theatrical focus under the guidance of Massimo Paderni, Barbara Petrucci and Riccardo Marsano respectively. He then completed his studies at the Conservatories, obtaining a diploma in Music Didactics and Instrumental Didactics. He approached music from an early age (7 years old) being a child of art. He began his musical career at the age of 1l, being chosen as a chorister in the treble voices at the Carlo Felice Theatre in Genoa in the operas Turandot and Loreley, with the honour of admiring the great Ghena Dimitrova. After the first intense years of training, he enrolled, in parallel with the Conservatory, at the Music Academy of Palazzo Ducale in Genoa. attending masterclasses held by Viviana Buzzai and Giacomo Battarino. Here he also took part in several masterclasses, one of which was that of the great Maestro Boris Bloch. His passion for music is directed towards opera and the art of accompanying singers, as he has a tenor father. He was hired by the association Amici dell'Arte di Genova and with it he held dozens and dozens of concerts in the main theatres in the city and beyond from 1996 onwards, playing entire operas and operettas on the piano. After moving to the province of Imperia at the age of 20, he developed collaborations with leading musical figures in western Liguria. For years he has succeeded with great commitment in being competitive both as a soloist, ranging between romantic and baroque repertoires, and as an accompanist for opera singers. Of particular note is his presence as accompanist pianist in important 'Masterclasses' held by artists of the calibre of Mariella Devia and Fiorenza Cedolins and in international opera singing competitions such as the T.O.S.C.A. competition in Andora. He also distinguished himself as a chamber music pianist by winning important scholarships and international competitions. He has performed as soloist with several Italian orchestras including the San Remo Symphony Orchestra. He is pianist in the Mistralia Ensemble, a folk music group that performs in many prestigious festivals throughout Europe. He also plays in the group 'Detalles de Tango', an Argentine tango band that stands out for the variety of its arrangements and highly original musical programme. He holds the piano chair at the Nazario Sauro middle school with a musical address in Imperia and at the Pànta Musicà school in Imperia. He also teaches at the San Giorgio School in Cervo, known for its collaborations with the prestigious International Chamber Music Festival. As a teacher, he has obtained important recognitions, allowing several of his students to graduate and win international competitions, one of them being the European Piano Cup held in Imperia in 2019, the only Italian stage. In the year 2023 and 2024, he held and is still holding several concerts in very prestigious halls such as the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum in Milan and the Casino Theatre in Sanremo, collaborating with world-famous artists such as the tenor Fabio Armiliato. Artistic Director Mauro Trombetta, an eminent musician and leading figure on the Italian music scene, listening to Leonardo in a recent concert in Verbania on Chopin's period pianos, had very positive words for him, on that occasion in concert with Sanremo soprano Fiorella Di Luca. |
